Administrator/Partner

Mitch Leichter started his healthcare career as a Recreation Therapist in 1996 and has also completed training in aromatherapy and holistic treatments. He obtained his Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) administrator’s license in 2000. In 2010 Mitch became the Administrator at Alexander Gardens and in 2014 became Partner/ Administrator. Mitch is the past recipient of the California Assisted Living Association (CALA) award for his Sensory Integration Program for dementia patients, which he brings to Alexander Gardens to the delight of our residents. In his spare time Mitch enjoys spending time with friends and family, enjoying the beach, and adding a new awesome design to his Hawaiian shirt collection.

Associate Executive Director/LVN

 Joseph Newlan has over 25 years of experience as a nurse. He is certified in Advanced Care Planning Facilitation, phlebotomy, and RCFE Administration.  Joseph’s nursing career involves his work in a variety of fields ranging from Sub-Acute Care, Hospice, Home Health, Adult Day Care, Dementia, and Assisted Living.  He is a 5th generation Santa Barbara native and enjoys serving seniors in our community. He also serves as Associate Executive Director at Villa Alamar, a memory care facility nearby. His believes it is crucial to work closely with the staff to provide consistent, quality care in a caring fashion. “We treat the residents and their family as one unit,” says Joseph.  “The emotional health and care of our family members is as important as the care we give our residents.”

Business Office Manager

Dalia Guiterrez initially joined the Alexander Garden team as a Medication Technician in 2011, after completing the CNA/HHA program at Santa Barbara City College. Her dedication to residents and their families did not go unnoticed, and Dalia continued to grow in her responsibilities becoming our Assisted Living Coordinator. After completing her RCFE Administrator’s training, she was promoted to her current position where her ability to attend to every detail in the operation of the home is greatly recognized and appreciated. She considers caring for our residents and their families to be a great honor. She often notice how much she adores the residents and loves to see them smile. When not at work, Dalia enjoys spending quality time outdoors with her 2 children and dancing to Latin rhythms (she is an expert on Cumbia)

Assisted Living Coordinator

Jackie Barron‘s commitment to the residents, families and staff is felt throughout the Alexander Gardens assisted living community.  She began her work here as a Medication Technician in 2016 and after witnessing her hard work and dedication, she was promoted to Assisted Living Coordinator. Her passion for her work creates a connection to the residents and families. Meeting the needs of the residents, giving them peace and contentment brings joy to Jackie’s day.  Jackie is a Medical Assistant and is expanding her education in the nursing field.  When not at work she loves spending time with her family and exploring new opportunities and events.
